Easter Sunday - Christ is Risen! Hallelujah!
April 12, 2009 - On this anniversary of our LORD's resurrection, Reno was
blessed with warm Spring weather. An estimated 900 people attended one or more
of the three worship services offered on this festive day filled with special
music from the congregation, the Friends of the Family, the Adult Choir,
flautists, a cellist, trumpeters, and Pat Oehlert on the organ.
Pastor Mike Benke led the worship.
Upon entering the church, congregants were handed a fresh flower to place on the
8-foot Resurrection Cross in the front of the sanctuary. According to many, this
was the most beautiful cross in quite a few years.
In
addition to the worship services, the Senior High Youth again hosted the Easter
Breakfast, a tradition at St. Luke's for more than 20 years. This breakfast is a
fundraiser for the youth and helps pay for their retreats and other major
activities.
Linda Oliver (and friends) were also on hand to hide candy for the Easter Egg Hunt.
