In late 2010, the Church Council of St. Lukes Lutheran asked Stephen Streufert to chair a Strategic Planning Committee to address this question:

What would God have the members of St. Lukes Lutheran Church do to serve Him in the next 2-5 years?

The reasons for this request were twofold. First, Pastor Mike is looking to retire in 2-3 years. Secondly, it has been almost fifteen years since the membership of St. Lukes has taken a comprehensive look at the ministries, practices, and priorities of this church. It makes sense, therefore, to see where we are now, where we want to be (where God wants is to be!), and finally to determine how to get from here to there. In short, we need to do some strategic planning.

Beginning January 2011, the committee members--Bob Felten, Linda Koester, Kurt Mische, Bob Mooney, Nathan Morian, Denise Pierce, Stephen Streufert (Chair), Rich Trenery, and Brooke Whisenant--have been meeting regularly to work on the planning process. The committee is charged with guiding the process, analyzing the data, and making recommendations.

As a member of St. Lukes, you have a vital role in the success of our strategic plan. Your fellow members in this Body of Christ need your prayers, your input, and your active participation in this planning process and in the execution of the final plan.

Congregational survey is over--now what?

The comprehensive survey was available from May 1st  to June 12th. Now, the Strategic Planning Committee will be reviewing the responses and developing the plan. We expect to present a brief status update during December's Congregational Meeting. The full report will be presented for review and discussion at a separate meeting after the first of the year.
