The Gift - Christmas Music from Friends of the Family

Friends of the Family released a CD in 2009 titled “The Gift” with a collection of Christmas songs from an unusually wide variety of sources.

There are songs with folk and country western roots, from traditional choir arrangements, by contemporary Christian artists and some of their own original music. This CD is really a reflection of how they’ve always chosen music for church. When one of them hears a song they like, they bring it to the group and work up their own arrangement. And they often write songs for special occasions like Christmas.

Of the 15 songs on the CD, six are Friends of the Family originals written by either Bob Felten or Tom Taelour. Jim Cox, formerly a piano player with the group, composed the music for the title track.

The CD was recorded at Tanglewood Studios in Reno under the production direction of owner Michael Eardley. “The Gift” is the second CD recorded by Friends of the Family who released “Celebrate His Love”, a collection of 15 original songs, in 2003.

The CDs are available to purchase for $15 on Sunday mornings at the church or in the church office during the week.
